Dragon Quest V [DS] Sales Broke Million Copies
Saturday, August 02 2008 - 7:37 PM (EDT)

Dragon Quest V was released on July 19, 2008. And in less than 2 weeks, SquareEnix already sold more than a million copies though out Japan.

DQ5 is the 2nd game of the 3 parts release of the old DQ series. So after DQ5, the remake of DQ6 will be coming next. DQ6 has NEVER been re-release in any system other than original SNES one, so this release will definitely be a big hit in Japan market.

PS: The english release date of DQ4 will be on September 16, 2008.

Dr Slump [DS]
Thursday, July 31 2008 - 7:11 PM (EDT)

All the way back in the 80s, Dr Slump is the first creation of the popular Akira Toriyama. It is about a inventor in Penguin Village that always come up with all sort of ghetto creations. And this time, he created a robotic girl very weird personality that turns the whole village upside down. And that is the story of the series, which is also what this game is based off. The game is schedule to be release in the spring of 2008!? It is summer already...

HK Power intros solar-powered, game-emulating PMP
Monday, November 12 2007 - 9:42 PM (EST)

Solar-powered PMPs still aren't exactly all that easy to come by, but it looks like they're slowly becoming a bit more plentiful, as evidenced by this latest bit of gear from HK Power. As you can see, this one plays up its gaming capabilities quite a bit, which apparently comes in the form of NES and Game Boy emulators, and not anything PlayStation-related, despite the familiar buttons. Otherwise, you'll supposedly also be able to take advantage of the PMP's solar-charging capabilities to power up some of your other devices, and you'll of course get all the usual PMP-related functions, with an SD card slot apparently your only means of storage.

Sears ad shows off two new DS Lite models
Monday, November 12 2007 - 9:18 PM (EST)

Well I know its been on the web for a while, but I'll post it anyways. It looks like those that have yet to take the plunge on a DS Lite will soon have two more models competing for their attention, as evidenced by this Sears "Black Friday" ad that recently turned up online. As you can see, one of the models is a Zelda: Phantom Hourglass model, although it's a good deal more subtle than the one spotted earlier this month. The other is a metallic pink Nintendogs: Best Friends model, which gets in its cross-branding with equal subtlety. Both models also come bundled with their respective games although, at $150 apiece, those looking for the best bargain will likely be able to do better with a non-coordinated model.

Watch out PSP, Nintendo DS gets 1seg tuner too
Friday, October 26 2007 - 11:36 AM (EDT)

Maybe you do not know what 1seg is, but just in case it is Japan's new (kinda old now) native-brewed broadcast digital TV service technology that devices like the PSP -- and now the Nintendo DS -- are rocking. Ofcourse it will not be more densely designed than the Sony's PSP version, but the Japanese obsession with the DS has no boundaries. This will sell for ¥6800 (or $60 USD) when it goes on sale in Japan on November 20th, 2007.

For those who can read Japanese (or have a translator like me) can read the full story at:

[PSP] A code that lets blind people use PSP to identify people?!?!?
Friday, October 26 2007 - 11:27 AM (EDT)

Hackers of all kinds continue to be drawn to the PSP, and the latest piece of code to bring a frowny-face to Sony's attorneys will probably bring a smile to lots of other people, as Nanodesktop Blind Assistant from Italy's Filippo Battaglia uses a webcam to identify and locate people in the room. The code is still proof-of-concept and requires a PC to serve images, but developers are working on a USB camera support and promise the next version will be "official" and "fully working" -- which makes us wonder if they've seen that internal camera hack. Sadly, there's no word on when that next version is due to hit, but you can still download the current build.

Gilded Zelda DS Lite on the horizon?!?!?!?
Thursday, October 11 2007 - 12:28 PM (EDT)

Apparently, the gold DS Lite you see tucked away in the lower-left hand corner of the picture above could soon be coming to retail stores, which to be honest, wouldn't shock us considering the amount of colors already released. Reportedly, the photograph was snapped at the Nintendo World Store as Phantom Hourglass launched, and to make things even more interesting, a certain individual has also claimed that his company has received orders from the Big N to design graphics for a "BOX, SYST GOLD W/ZELDA: HOUR USG." Even if legitimate, it remains to be seen if the elusive new portable will simply be a limited run for contests or if it'll hit shelves in masses, but it's hard to argue how well a gilded Zelda DS Lite bundle would sell this holiday season.

[DS] Halo DS videos released
Tuesday, October 02 2007 - 3:51 PM (EDT)

Matt on IGN has posted some videos on his blog showing the cancelled Halo DS game he reported having played (a report which resulted in many people claiming it was a fabrication). The videos show a seemingly fully functional two-player mode, but for reasons still undisclosed, the game was cancelled and is very unlikely to ever be revived.

New PGamers site open!
Sunday, September 30 2007 - 3:53 PM (EDT)

We've put together this new page as the beginning of a brand new PGamers site. The design isn't finalised, but we decided it was better to get something up than leave everybody hanging (and just a forum seems pretty useless).

To submit news, just post in the appropriate place on the forums (HTML is allowed) and if it is deemed significant enough to reach the front page, a moderator will approve it. Anybody is welcome to submit news (but if you start SPAMming the forum, you'll likely be banned).

I'll post more plans regarding the site in the coming days. Enjoy .
